Seaspan is proud to share that we have taken a major step forward in strengthening marine firefighting capability on the North Shore.
The Seaspan Responder fire training prop is now fully operational at the District of North Vancouver‘s Maplewood Fire & Rescue Centre.
Donated by Seaspan, the custom-built structure is being used for specialized training and collaboration between Seaspan’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and municipal fire departments, including the District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services (DNVFRS).
Dwayne Higgins, Fire Rescue Lead at Vancouver Shipyards and retired Acting Battalion Chief with the Vancouver Fire Rescue Service supervising the ERT’s training alongside instructors from Marine Firefighting Attack Training, a group of active and retired firefighters.
“Everyone involved is giving it their all,” says Dwayne. “Our skilled trades employees are putting in their time and effort to help keep their coworkers and communities safe. And we are working closely with DNVFRS and other local fire departments, fostering a culture of collaboration when it comes to marine firefighting safety on the North Shore.”
